The JK® system is characterised by a number of steps and basic principles that are explained below:
- Yearly more than 5,000 JK® underfloor heating systems are installed worldwide, primarily as the principal heating source in both existing and new buildings.
- The JK® system is specifically designed for both existing and new houses, and is suitable for existing screeds.
- The JK® system is known for its unique method of grinding underfloor heating into, instead of on top of, the floor. This means there is no increase in floor build-up.
- The JK® system is an affordable solution because it requires minimal construction work.
- The patented JK® Floorgrinder grinds a tightly routed groove pattern into the screed. This pattern has a spiral shape meant to optimise heat distribution in the floor.
- The JK® system is fully tested and has heat dissipation performance reports. It is also bespoke, as it is adapted to each house or building’s specific layout.
- The JK® system is suitable for both isolated as well as non-isolated floor constructions, offering a unique solution for older existing houses.
- The heating pipes are placed in the grooves. These pipes are airtight and made from flexible and durable polyethylene that can endure high temperatures. They are popular because of their flexibility, resistance to tearing and corrosion, and their ability to distribute heat to the floor evenly.
- The floorheating manifold ensures that warm water from the heating system is mixed or distributed to the heating pipes.
- To seal the grooves in the JK® system a specially designed sealing compound called JK Flexsealing is used. This is a paste that is applied over the heating pipes to fully seal the grooves. The JK® system is suitable for all kinds of floor finishes, from natural stone and tiles to laminate and floor covering.
- As the JK® system is placed directly underneath the floor finish, the result is more efficient energy usage. Practically, this means the water temperature in the pipes can be lower, which improves reaction times.
- It is also possible to use the JK® system for cooling. Tests have been performed and reports that confirm its effectiveness for cooling are available.
- In most cases the JK® system can be installed within one working day by an experienced team of our own installers.
- If a floor finish does not mesh well with in-ground floor heating, then the JK® Group will work with partners specialised in systems using modern mounting techniques. In this way traditional underfloor heating installation can be done in a very efficient way.
